The app shows a current status for my pool. What does each mean?

Here is a list of the current status options and what each means:

Off – no control or equipment is currently turned on.
Filtering – means one or more pump is pumping water through the filter system. 
Heating – the heater is actively running for this body of water.  If the heater us On and status shows filtering it means the temperature of the water is measuring higher than what has been set in the app.
