Poolside Tech is excited to offer official first-party support of our Attendant controllers to the Home Assistant ecosystem. The available integration is a fully local implementation without any polling mechanism. This type of integration has no dependence on cloud infrastructure and will instantly update your Home Assistant regardless of the state of your internet connection.
Supported Features
- Control parity with your Poolside Mobile App. Your Home Assistant gains the ability to have a similar level of control over your water features, lights, heating/chilling equipment and many other capabilities of your pool similar to the way they work in the mobile app.
- Ability to monitor device specific states in the Home Assistant ecosystem. Generate alerts or tie in Home Assistant automations based on sensor states or device operating parameters.
Requirements
Your Attendant or Attendant Mini must be running software version 2.6.6 or later.
Home Assistant version 2026.2.0 or later.
Your Home Assistant instance must be on the same Layer 2 broadcast domain (LAN/VLAN) as the Attendant for mDNS auto discovery to work. If you are routing traffic through a router/firewall it’s important that you allow TCP/8126 to pass traffic from Home Assistant to the Attendant.
In order for automatic discovery of your Attendant to work properly your network must support mDNS. If you are using a WiFi network that blocks multicast traffic mDNS will not work and you will not be able to get automatic discovery.
Installing the Integration (HACS Method)
Note: Poolside Tech is currently working on having this integration included with Home Assistant core. When this is complete installing via HACS will no longer be required, however the HACS distribution channel will be available for fastest updates and various new features we are testing.

Add HACS and the Poolside Integration to your Home Assistant Installation
- Install HACS by following your Home Assistant specific installation (OS/Container/Core)

- In your Home Assistant instance navigate to Settings -> Devices & Services. From the Integrations tab press the Add Integration button
- Type “HACS” into the search box and install the integration
- Open the HACS tab that should appear in your main left navigation toolbar
- Open the HACS Overflow menu (three dots) in the top right of the screen and select the custom repositories option
- Specify the repository as PoolsideStan/poolside-official-integration and Type as Integration
Press Add - Search for Poolside in the HACS integration search box and click on the result
- Download and Install the Poolside Integration by pressing the Download button
- Restart your Home Assistant to activate the integration
Pair Your Attendant to Home Assistant
Once you have completed the steps for installing HACS and adding the Poolside Tech repository and installing the integration you can begin the Pairing process.
Connecting Using Auto Discovery Method (Preferred)
Home Assistant will normally automatically detect your Attendant control panel and present a card for you in the Settings -> Devices & Services menu. Pressing the Configure button on this card will allow you to begin the pairing process.
Connecting Using the Manual Configuration Method
- In your Home Assistant instance navigate to Settings -> Devices & Services. From the Integrations tab press the Add Integration button.
- Type Poolside into the search and install the Poolside integration
Note: The Poolside integration will only be visible if installing HACS and adding the custom repository steps have been completed! - Enter the IP address of your Attendant panel and press Submit
Completing the Pairing Using the Mobile App
Pairing is a one-time security handshake that lets your Attendant decide whether to trust this specific Home Assistant installation. When you start the pairing process from Home Assistant, the Attendant opens a 5-minute pairing window. During this window:
Before pressing Approve, confirm the code shown in the Poolside app matches the code displayed in Home Assistant. This verifies you are approving the correct system and not another device on your network.
Home Assistant displays a short verification code (fingerprint) and waits.
The same pairing request appears on your Poolside controller and in the Poolside app (Review on the API Pairing Request card).
- Press Review on the API Pairing Request card in your Poolside App
- Press Approve to complete the pairing process
- You can always manage and revoke paired Home Assistant Instances using the API Connections screen for your site. To do so navigate to the hamburger menu (Sites->[Site you want to manage]->API Connections)
Note if your pairing request times out you can always start a new one from Home Assistant
Configuring the Integration in Home Assistant
You can configure the Poolside integration to enable the Expose pool devices option.
The Attendant distinguishes between controls — the things you operate, like “Water Feature” or “Pool Heat” — and the physical pool devices it manages behind the scenes to fulfill those requests (pumps, heaters, valve actuators, lighting hardware, and similar equipment).
In addition to your controls, the integration can expose this underlying equipment in Home Assistant. Each pool device appears as its own device entry with read-only sensor entities for the telemetry it reports — for example pump speed, power draw, heater status, or a valve actuator’s position. These sensors are ideal for dashboards, alerting, and automations (“notify me if the filter pump’s power draw drops while it should be running”), but they cannot be used to command the equipment directly — all control still flows through your normal controls, exactly as it does in the Poolside app.
This option is enabled by default. If you prefer a leaner setup with fewer entities, you can turn it off:
- Navigate to Settings → Devices & Services → Poolside
- Press Configure
- Toggle Expose pool devices and press Submit
The integration reloads automatically when you change this setting. Disabling it removes the equipment telemetry entities; re-enabling it brings them back. Your controls (lights, water features, heating, and so on) are unaffected either way.
