In order to connect your Black and Decker pump to The Attendant, you must have the Black and Decker Automation Adapter Panel installed on your pump. If you do not have this control or have a model that does not support one, you should follow the legacy Single-Speed Connection instructions.
Variable Speed Control Instructions
You need to connect a 18-24 AWG, four wire cable from the remote control port on the pump to 3 available ports on The Attendant. The ports on The Attendant can be either Relays or Heater ports. We recommend using Heater ports unless there aren’t enough ports free to use.
The process involves removing the Automation Adapter Panel display from the pump, connecting the control wiring, and reinstalling the display back onto the pump.

Wiring Instructions
- To begin, you will need to first remove the User Interface from the pump’s Automation Adapter Panel. There are 4 screws to remove.
- Disconnect the 5/6-pin communication connector from the Automation Adapter Panel.
- Connect the four-wire cable to the communication connector as follows. Reconnect to the Automation Adapter Panel.

- Connect the four-wire cable to The Attendant using either Heater ports or Relays.

Configuring the Pump in the Poolside Mobile App
In Installer Mode, create a new pump (or edit an existing one) and select Generic as the brand, then Multi Speed pump as the model.
For the Ports section of the device, use the Add button to add two more rows to make a total of three “Ports” rows.

Select the correct port type (Heater or Relay) and number for each of the three INputs from the pump.
For the row that has IN1 wired, input 3000 RPM.
For the row that has IN2 wired, input 1500 RPM.
For the row that has IN3 wired, input 2500 RPM.
These are the default speeds programmed into the Automation Adapter Panel.
Once you are done, press Apply and save your changes.
Troubleshooting
If you’re running the pump in relay control and experiencing speed drops after each minute of operation, this is a pump/drive issue that needs to be addressed by Black & Decker. Please contact Black & Decker Customer Support for assistance.
