These devices should only be powered directly from the power center or breaker panel. Do not run electricity through a relay as The Attendant will control the device to turn on/off by using the communication cable.

To enable RS-485 communication, a Madimack connection cable is required. This cable is typically supplied with the heat pump. If your heat pump did not include the cable, please contact Madimack to order the correct replacement.

Madimack heat pumps can be controlled using either Remote connections or RS-485 communications.

Remote connections allow The Attendant to control the heat pump’s on/off operation to maintain a desired water temperature setpoint.

When connected via RS-485, The Attendant can control the heat pump’s operating state while also providing enhanced monitoring and diagnostics. This includes access to water temperature, operating status, and fault information directly within The Attendant.

Poolside Tech recommends using an RS-485 connection whenever possible to take advantage of the additional control and diagnostic capabilities; however, Remote connections remain a fully supported option.

This connection method controls ON/OFF of the heat pump via a dry contact/firemans switch connection using contacts 5 & 6 on the heat pump’s internal Terminal Board.
