Jandy Infinite WaterColors LED Lights

Ports to connect to on The Attendant: BUS1 – BUS4
Ports to connect to on The Attendant Mini: BUS1 – BUS2

Do not exceed a total of 240 watts per Infinite Watercolor Controller. Exceeding this limit may cause severe damage to the controller. Refer to the manual for the specific wattage of each light to ensure accurate calculations.

Connecting and operating the Infinite WaterColors drivers and lights to The Attendant is easy and straightforward. You will need to first complete the physical installation of the lights and transformer (a.k.a light driver).

It is recommended that you wire all transformers (light drivers) together to a single BUS port on The Attendant. Wiring them together to one spot on The Attendant will pool all of the lights together and make it simpler to organize your lighting zones into the 4 zones that are available from the light drivers. Zone 1 on driver 1 will be the same zone 1 on driver 2, driver 3, and so on.

This integration requires version 1.6.19 of The Attendant Controller software, and version 1.4.6 of the Poolside Mobile App.

Wiring

To be able to communicate and control the lights, a low voltage 4 conductor AWG22 from each light driver must be wired to one of the communication bus terminals (labelled BUS1 to BUS4) on The Attendant.

You should use one provided with the Jandy transformer kit. This is the correct cable consisting of red, black, yellow, and green wires. Connect each to the terminal provided in the Jandy transformer (light driver) as follows:

From left to right – Red, Black, Yellow, Green.

On The Attendant,

  • Red is connected with +14V.
  • Black to D+
  • Yellow to D-
  • Green is wired to GND.

After you’ve completed the physical wiring connections from the light drivers to The Attendant, it’s time to configure the drivers and lights in the Poolside Mobile App!

Mobile App Configuration

The Jandy Infinite WaterColors light driver supports a maximum of 16 lights, with the capability to assign each to 1 of 4 total zones. There aren’t any DIP switches or complicated wiring procedures to do this – the Poolside mobile application works with the driver to setup and control each light and zone.

There are 3 steps to configuring your lights in the mobile app:

  • Creating one or more Light Driver devices.
  • Adding a Light device for every zone that you wish to use on the Driver.
  • Assigning each Light to a zone.

Add a Light Driver

Using the Poolside Mobile App, tap on the hamburger menu, and select Maintenance, then Installer Mode.

Tap on Devices, then the plus symbol to add a new device.

Select Light Driver.

Now, pick the appropriate BUS port number this Light Driver is wired to, and then input the Serial Number of it. The Serial Number is a 18 character long string starting with “BYEF” and ending with 14 numbers.

The Serial Number must begin with capital letters “BYEF”

You can find this on a sticker on the underside of the box below a QR code. It looks like this:

Repeat this process for each Jandy transformer you are installing!

Add a “Light” for Each “Zone”

Once each Light Driver device has been configured, use the plus symbol to add a new Light device for each lighting zone that you would like to control as a group. Select the same Ports that were used in the setup of the Light Driver.

Example:
You have one Jandy Driver which has 12 lights wired to it. 8 lights are for the Pool, while the other 4 are for the Spa. This means that you would be utilizing 2 zones on the driver: 1 for the Pool and 1 for the Spa.

Create only 2 Lights in the Poolside app, not 12.

Each zone should have it’s own number, ranging from 1 to 4 – the zones that the Jandy Infinite WaterColors lights use.

Assign Each Physical Light to the Correct Zone

In this final step, you will turn on each physical light one by one, and assign each one to the zone(s) you set when creating the “Light” for the Pool or Spa, etc.

While in Installer Mode, edit each Light Driver once more. Scroll down and now you will see a new button that has appeared since you last saved it. This section, named Zone Editor, allows you to take each individual light that is connected to the Driver, and assign the zone you wish.

Press the “Edit Members” button to get started.

You will now see a listing of each and every light that the Driver is reporting connected to it.

Tap the “Select…” button next to each listed light, and you’ll be offered a list of Zone 1 to Zone 4. Tap the zone you want to assign this light to.

Once you do this, the physical light will turn on and begin to blink to one of four colors – green, white, red or blue. (Nothing in the app blinks; You need to look at the lights themselves.) The color lets you know which zone it has been assigned to:

  • Blinking green means the light has been assigned to Zone 1
  • Blinking white means the light has been assigned to Zone 2
  • Blinking red means the light has been assigned to Zone 3
  • Blinking blue means the light has been assigned to Zone 4

If you need to change the zone assignment, just tap on “Select…” again and pick the appropriate one.

Repeat this process for each and every light in the list, and you’ll need to do the same for each Light Driver you have installed as well.

Once you have finished assigning each light to a zone, you can exit Installer Mode, and test the controls in normal mode.

Jandy Infinite WaterColors lights are not compatible with The Attendant’s Sync with Spotify features.

Troubleshooting

If you are having difficulties with turning your lights on or off, or perhaps some lights are not displaying the colors as you’d expect, there is a way to trigger a lighting power and color test. Performing the test requires opening the Jandy Light Driver electrical compartment, so only proceed if you are comfortable doing so.

Power off all Jandy Light Drivers by disconnecting them from the outlet or by turning off the electrical breaker.

Open the Light Driver by removing the single screw on the front of the box.

Once open, disconnect the communication wire (shown below) by gently pulling straight out towards you.

Once this plug is disconnected, replace the outer cover to prevent accidental shock/electrocution.

Turn on power to the Light Drivers that you are testing. After a moment, all lights that are physically wired to this driver will turn on and begin to cycle through colors – starting on red, and changing every 15 seconds.

Colors will cycle at full brightness and show red, orange, green-yellow, green, blue, violet, and pink. After the last color, the lights will all turn off and remain off.

This color test gives you the opportunity to ensure each light is working and displaying the correct colors without The Attendant communicating to them.

If any lights do not work, or do not display the correct color or brightness during this test, please contact your pool professional for assistance with the lights in question.

Once you are satisfied with the results of the test, you can again power the Light Driver off and re-connect the communication plug inside the Light Driver box. After powering back on, The Attendant will be able to remotely control the lights again.
