Amazon Alexa Integration with The Attendant

Integrating with smart devices that are currently connected in your home is a necessary step towards extending the smart home into the backyard.  The Attendant is fully integrated with Amazon Alexa to further streamline our system and save you time.

To enable voice integration with Alexa, you will need to install the Amazon Alexa app, connect and link the Poolside Attendant skill, and then set up devices to enable Alexa to operate the controls of your pool or spa.

Install the Amazon Alexa App

From your devices’ app store, search for and install the Amazon Alexa app.

Connect Alexa with The Attendant

Open the Alexa app, and log in using your Amazon account credentials.  Select the More icon on the bottom right, then Skills and Games.

Use the magnifying glass icon to search for and locate the Poolside Attendant skill for Amazon Alexa.  Tap on the skill to start.

Tap Enable to Use.  Once you do this, you will be prompted to log in to the Poolside mobile app.  Enter your Poolside login credentials and OTP (one-time password if enabled).

Once you are logged in, press Next to allow Alexa to discover your Attendant’s devices.

After about 45 seconds, Alexa will list all newly found devices.  You will need to select each one individually to set them up for use with Alexa.

Setting Up Devices

To set up a device, you need to do the following:

  • Select the device from the list
  • Tap the Set Up Device button on the bottom of the screen
  • Tap the Skip button on the bottom of the screen to skip adding your device to a group.  (While skipping this step is recommended, you can choose to add the devices to your home groups.)
  • Tap the Continue button.

Enjoy!

Whether you are using the Amazon Alexa app or an Amazon Echo device, you can try the following phrases:

“Alexa, turn on the pool heat.”
“Alexa, set the pool heat to 84 degrees.”
“Alexa, turn on the pool filter.”

“Alexa, turn on the spa jets.”

Currently supported controls include:

  • Heater / Thermostat
  • Water Features (Blowers, fountains, waterfall)
  • Lights (limited to powering on and off)
  • Filtering
  • Themes
