The Attendant with Chemistry – Recommended Components List

When working with The Attendant with Chemistry, you are able to configure the system and manage the level of control to your liking.  You can choose to simply track and record the pool’s readings over time, or you can install additional hardware like chemical tanks and feeders to automatically attempt to keep your pH and/or ORP levels steady.

If you want to simply track and record, you will need to have pH and ORP probes installed along with a flow cell.  You can keep an eye on the chemistry values yourself via the app.  You can also grant access to your maintenance company so that they too can have visibility.

If you also have a salt cell installed, this operating model allows you to leverage that and react to the ORP (sanitization) levels as they change over time.  For example, if the ORP level is low, the system will turn on the salt cell to begin generating chlorine. Conversely, if the level is too high, it will turn it off.

For tracking and recording only, we recommend the following items:

  • pH Sensor
  • ORP Sensor
  • Flow Cell with an integrated Flow Switch
  • Standalone Flow Switch (only if the Flow Cell does not have one included)

For a more complete solution to your pool’s water balance, you can incorporate additional hardware, like chemical tanks & pumps, UV water sanitizers, and ozone dispensers.  This model allows you to programmatically react to the chemistry needs of your pool with our auto-dosing features.  With this level of automation, you perhaps would only need weekly service for cleaning.  In addition to the items you need for tracking and recording, we recommend the following:

  • Chemical tanks with dispensing pumps for chemicals:
    • Muriatic Acid (pH down)
    • Liquid Chlorine (ORP up)

Lastly, don’t worry if you’re not sure right now.  You can certainly start off with digital monitoring (track and record) of the water using pH & ORP probes along with a flow cell, and add additional hardware later – especially if keeping up with it requires too much maintenance.

  • Poolside Chemistry Module – Part #ATT-CHEM
  • Probes – the system needs both a pH and an ORP probe
    • Pentair pH Sensor – Part #522186
    • Pentair ORP Sensor – Part #522187
  • Flow Cells & Plumbing
    • Pentair AK1200 Flow Cell – Complete Kit
    • Rola-Chem Globe Flow Cell with Flowswitch & Quick Connect Kit – Part #550180
    • PVC fittings to allow a ½” NPT
  • Acid Tanks & Pumps
    • Hayward pH Dispense, Acid Feed System – Part #AQL-CHEM4-ACID
    • Pentair Intellichem Chemical Controller Acid Container with Tank Mounted Pump (Four Gallons) – Part #522472

Note: Pentair IntelliChem tanks (Acid and Chlorine) come with 24VDC Stenner pumps. These pumps require an additional transformer to be compatible with the attendant. The recommended transformer is the Meanwell LPV-60-24.

  • Chlorine Tanks & Pumps
    • Hayward Chlorine Feed System – Part #AQL-CHEM4-CHLOR
    • Pentair Intellichem Chemical Controller Chlorine Container with Tank Mounted Pump (Four Gallons) – Part #522473

Note: Pentair IntelliChem tanks (Acid and Chlorine) come with 24VDC Stenner pumps. These pumps require an additional transformer to be compatible with the attendant. The recommended transformer is the Meanwell LPV-60-24.

Note: You will utilize 1 High Voltage Relay (or H1-H5 port) for each chemical pump.
