Schedules and Scheduling Functionality

YouTube Video on Schedules

In this video, we will explore creating simple scheduled events, ready-by-time events and astrological clock-based events.

Schedules can only be created and modified through The Attendant App. They cannot be added, changed, or deleted directly from The Attendant touchscreen panel.

Creating Schedules with The Attendant

In this article, we’ll walk through how to create and manage schedules within The Attendant app. To keep things clear and easy to follow, we’ll break the process down by the most common types of schedules you’ll be working with:

  • Pump Schedules – These are the backbone of your system’s operation, and we’ll start here since they’re used in nearly every installation.
  • Heater Schedules – We’ll cover how to schedule temperature control for your pool and spa, including how The Attendant coordinates with your heater settings.
  • Lighting Schedules – Finally, we’ll walk through the lighting scheduler so you can automate ambiance, themes, or shows with ease.

Each section will include step-by-step instructions, helpful tips, and use cases to ensure you’re getting the most out of The Attendant’s powerful scheduling tools. Let’s dive in.

Pump Schedules

To access the scheduler, tap the hamburger menu icon (☰) in the top right corner of the app, then select Scheduler from the list.
Once the scheduler opens, tap the device selection bar at the top of the screen and choose the equipment you’d like to schedule.

In this example, we’ll select Pool, Filter to set a filter schedule for the pool. After selecting the device, its name will appear in the device selection bar at the top.

If you see a number in parentheses next to the device name, that indicates how many schedules are currently set for that device. For example, if you’ve created one schedule that runs every day of the week, it will show as Pool, Filter (7), meaning there are 7 individual schedules—one for each day.

To create a schedule, tap the blue + button at the bottom center of the screen. A new schedule block will appear.

There are two ways to adjust the schedule:

1. Drag and Drop:

  • Use the arrows at the top and bottom of the block to set the start and end times by dragging them to your desired time.
  • You can also press and hold the center of the block to move the entire schedule up or down the timeline.
  • Once you’ve set the time, use the + and – buttons at the bottom of the screen to adjust the speed (if applicable, such as for variable speed pumps).

2. Detailed Edit:

  • Tap the More button (three dots with “More” underneath) at the bottom of the screen.
  • A new window will open where you can adjust the pump power level if using a variable speed pump.
  • You can manually select the start and end times.
  • You’ll also see the Resume Automatically toggle. Enabling this ensures the schedule will automatically resume if it’s ever interrupted or turned off.
    • To adjust the duration for Resume Automatically, tap the gear icon next to the Device Selection Bar. From there, you can set how long the system should wait before the schedule resumes.

(We’ll cover the Sunrise/Sunset options later in the lighting schedule section.)

Once you’ve finished making changes, tap Apply.

You’ve now created your Monday schedule.

To copy this to other days:

  • Press and hold “Mo” (Monday) at the top of the schedule. A message will appear saying “Monday copied, click target day.”
  • Tap the day you’d like to copy it to, then tap Copy.
  • Repeat this for each additional day you want to match Monday’s schedule.

If you prefer to have different schedules each day, you can create them individually.

Once all schedules are set, tap Save in the top right corner to finish.

Heater Schedules

Just like before, to access the scheduler, tap the hamburger menu icon (☰) in the top right corner of the app, then select Scheduler from the list.
Once the scheduler opens, tap the device selection bar at the top of the screen and select the equipment you’d like to schedule.

In this example, we’ll select Pool, Heater to create a heating schedule for the pool. After selecting the device, its name will appear in the device selection bar at the top.

  • Once you’ve set the time, use the + and – buttons at the bottom of the screen to adjust the temperature.

2. Detailed Edit:

  • Tap the More button (three dots with “More” underneath) at the bottom of the screen.
  • A new menu will pop up with additional options:
    • Temperature: Tap the + or – buttons to set the target temperature.
    • Heating Mode: If you have more than one heat source, you’ll be able to choose which one to use. (Only applicable if you have more than one heating source.)
    • Temperature Maintenance Threshold: Use the slider to determine how far below the setpoint the temperature can drop before the heater turns back on.
    • Make It Ready at This Time: Enable this to let The Attendant calculate the best time to turn the heater on, so the water reaches the set temperature by the start of the schedule.
    • Start and End Times: You can enter times manually here if preferred.
    • Resume Automatically: Enable this to allow the schedule to resume automatically if it gets turned off or interrupted.

(Sunrise/Sunset options will be covered in the lighting schedule section.)

Once you’ve made all adjustments, tap Apply.

You’ve now created your Monday heater schedule.

To copy this schedule to the rest of the week:

  • Press and hold “Mo” (Monday) at the top of the screen. A message will appear saying “Monday copied, click target day.”
  • Tap the day you’d like to copy it to, then tap Copy.
  • Repeat this for each additional day you want to match Monday’s schedule.

If you don’t want the same schedule every day, you can create individual schedules for each day.

Once all schedules are complete, tap Save in the top right corner of the screen.

Light Schedules

To access the scheduler, tap the hamburger menu icon (☰) in the top right corner of the app, then select Scheduler from the list.
Once the scheduler opens, tap the device selection bar at the top of the screen and select the lighting zone you’d like to schedule.

In this example, we’ll select Pool, Pool Light to create a lighting schedule for the pool. After selecting the device, its name will appear in the device selection bar at the top.

To create a schedule, tap the blue + button at the bottom center of the screen. A new schedule block will appear.

There are two ways to adjust the schedule:

1. Drag and Drop:

  • Use the arrows at the top and bottom of the block to set the start and end times by dragging them to your desired position.
  • Press and hold the center of the block to move the entire schedule up or down the timeline.
  • If you’re using a color-changing light, once you’ve set the time, use the Color Selector bar at the bottom center of the screen to choose a color or light show for that schedule block.

2. Detailed Edit:

  • Tap the More button (three dots with “More” underneath) at the bottom of the screen.
  • A menu will appear with additional settings:
    • Color/Show: Choose the desired color or lighting show to activate during the scheduled time.
    • Sunrise/Sunset: Enable this option to have the lights turn on or off automatically based on your local sunrise or sunset time.
    • Offset to Sunrise/Sunset: Adjust the schedule to start a set number of minutes before or after sunrise or sunset.
    • Start and End Times: Manually enter the exact times if preferred.
    • Resume Automatically: Enable this to make sure the schedule resumes automatically if it’s ever turned off or interrupted.

Once you’ve finished setting the details, tap Apply.

You’ve now created your Monday lighting schedule.

To copy this schedule to the rest of the week:

  • Press and hold “Mo” (Monday) at the top of the screen. A message will appear saying “Monday copied, click target day.”
  • Tap the next day you want to copy it to, then tap Copy.
  • Repeat this for each additional day.

If you want unique lighting schedules for different days, you can create individual schedules as needed.

Once all schedules are complete, tap Save in the top right corner to finish.

Delete Schedules

To delete an existing schedule, open the Scheduler by tapping the hamburger menu icon (☰) in the top right corner of the app, then selecting Scheduler from the list.
Tap the device selection bar at the top and choose the device with the schedule you want to remove.

On the timeline, locate the schedule block you’d like to delete and tap it.

At the bottom of the screen, tap the trash can icon located next to the More button. This will immediately remove the selected schedule block.

When you’ve finished deleting schedules, tap Save in the top right corner to apply your changes.
