Pentair iS10 10-Function Spa Side Remote

Ports to connect to on The Attendant: BUS1 – BUS4
Ports to connect to on The Attendant Mini: BUS1 – BUS2

Spa side remotes are a common feature that many people enjoy in their spa and The Attendant is capable of connecting to the Pentair iS10 10-Function remote.

When connected to the Attendant, the Pentair Remote can be configured to control pool and spa features such as heating, lighting, water features and more.

This integration requires version 1.6.17 of The Attendant Controller software, and version 1.4.5 of the Poolside Mobile App.

Serial RS-485 Connection

In order to connect, wires from the remote must be wired to one of the four communication bus terminals (labelled BUS1 to BUS4) on The Attendant.

Once the remote has been wired and connected to The Attendant, you can use Installer Mode to add the remote to the system.

Creating the Remote Device in Installer Mode

After going into Installer Mode on The Attendant, tap on Devices, and add a new Remote device. To do this, tap on the plus icon, then select Remote.

Input a name for the remote (one of your choosing), select Pentair for the Brand.

Select “iS10” as the model.

Select the appropriate BUS port that you wired the remote to.

Lastly, input the Address. The default value for the remote is 1.

Tap Apply at the top to save, then press Save on the Device list screen that follows.

Configuring the Functionality of Each Button

To define what each button on the remote should do when pressed, you will use the Poolside Mobile App.

Using the Poolside Mobile App, tap on the hamburger menu, and select Maintenance, then Map Push Buttons.

Tap the plus (+) button to add a new record. Select an available remote button from the list named Button.

On this model remote, there are 10 buttons available for configuration. These are achievable by pressing the rocker button up, then pressing one of the 5 buttons for buttons 1 to 5, and 5-10 by pressing down on the rocker then a button. These are labelled in the app as:

Circuit Buttons 1 through 10

Then, select a Target control that you would like to operate using this button. You can select anythin from the list.

Depending on the control you’ve selected, you can do the following:

  • Toggle – Purely toggles a control ON or OFF and does not set other values like color, brightness, or speed.
  • Set – This sets a value for the control, like the temperature of a heater – and turns it on.
  • Increase – This increases the set point or power level of a control. An example would be increasing the speed of a water pump.
  • Decrease – This will decrease the set point of power level of a control. Turning the temperature down on a heater control for example.

NOTE: Not every option will be available for each type of control.

Press Save once you are finished. You can use that button immediately afterwards.

Repeat these steps for the remaining buttons that you would like to use

The iS10 remote has the capability to display the current temperature for the body of water it has been configured for. When filtering or heating is ON, the current temperature will be displayed. It is important to note that you will NOT see the temperature display until Circuit Button 1 has been configured with an action AND that button has been pressed on the remote. This is a limitation of the remote.
