Low Voltage Wiring

To enable RS-485 communication between the Pentair WhisperFlo VST pump and The Attendant, you’ll need the RS-485 Automation Wiring Kit (P/N 356324Z).

  • Use only the GREEN and YELLOW wires from the kit; all other wires should be trimmed back at the cable sheath.
  • Connect the YELLOW wire to the D+ terminal on The Attendant.
  • Connect the GREEN wire to the D- terminal on The Attendant.

Pump Addressing: (If applicable)

  • Press and hold the Display button for 3 seconds to enter the settings menu.
  • Use the “+” and “” buttons to select either 12-hour or 24-hour time format.
  • Press Display to advance through each setting:
  • Set the current time
  • Adjust screen backlight brightness
  • When prompted for RS-485 Address, use the “+” and “–” buttons to select Pump Address 1 or 2.
  • This address must match the address configured in The Attendant.
  • Press Display once more to exit the menu.

External Control Setup:

  • If the Start/Stop LED is illuminated, the pump is active. You must stop the pump to change control modes.
  • To enable or disable “External Control Only” mode, press and hold the Start/Stop button for 10 seconds. The Ext. Control Only LED will light up when this mode is enabled.
  • Press the Start/Stop button again to start the pump if needed.

Disable Priming

By default, the pump is shipped with Priming mode enabled, causing it to ramp up to 3450 RPM at startup and overriding The Attendant.
To disable this feature, press the minus (-) arrow button repeatedly while the pump is in prime mode until the display shows Pr1 OFF.

Important:
If the pump has been manually stopped using the Start/Stop button, it will not respond to automation control until the Start/Stop button is manually press again.
