The Attendant Controller Release Notes

You can check which version your Attendant is running by opening the mobile app, tapping on the hamburger menu and selecting “Sites.” From there, tap on your site from the list and then select the “About” tab. The current version of your controller will be displayed like this:

You can also check the version directly on The Attendant’s local display by tapping on the Settings icon on the left side of the screen.

  • Added the ability to configure a “Power Port” for DMX Lights. (POOL-3021)
  • Addressed an issue where the Attendant would not report the correct volume of water dispensed during an Autofill event if a “Minimum Run Time” for the Autofill device was set. (POOL-3016)

  • Made significant improvements to how the Chemistry engine supports multiple flows utilizing multiple flow sensors.
  • Improved Fairland heat pump support for heat-only models.
  • Added support for additional Moov heat-only and heat-cool models.
  • Added the ability to configure a specific Button mapping to not only turn on a control or theme, but also restart the configured Auto-Off Timer (if the timer was enabled.)
  • Added the ability to set the number of motor poles for VFD-style water pumps (ABB, Invertek, Danfoss, etc.)

Release date: July 10, 2025

  • Added the ability to configure and use Flow Switches on secondary controllers.
  • Addressed an issue where some devices would not automatically be reenabled when exiting Installer Mode.

  • Added support for J&J branded pool and spa lights.
  • Addressed an issue that previously allowed incompatible RS485-devices from being configured to use the same BUS port.
  • Expanded Jandy device configurations to support more devices that utilize the advanced serial number addressing.
  • Addressed an issue that could cause certain controllers to reboot randomly.

Version 2.3.3

Release date: June 30, 2025

  • Addresses an issue with the Autofill water quality graph. The first and last bars in the graph could show incorrect fill amounts.
  • Addresses an issue where offline Jandy Light Drivers would not trigger an offline device alert in the mobile app.
  • Addresses an issue where the Attendant Mini’s serial port polarity (D+/D-) would be reversed when there was a problem communicating between the top and bottom control boards.

  • Addressed an issue where configurations containing a Salt Cell but no water quality probes (ORP or Chlorine) would prevent users from editing Salt Chlorinator chemistry settings.
  • Addressed an issue could display an error on the mobile app when attempting to “Clear Temperature Change Statistics”

  • Added support for Fairland (Moov/Madimack/PAL) heat pumps.

  • Addressed an issue where a Flow Relay device would not turn on it’s relay device immediately after leaving Installer Mode while the source switch was on.
  • Added support to be able to configure a booster pump in a solar array bypass flow. The booster pump must be placed immediately before the Solar Heater in the flow configuration.
  • Improved Bluetooth functionality and connectivity with Pressure Sensors.

Version 2.1.15

Release date: May 12, 2025

  • Fixed an issue that prevented the readings from a pH probe installed on a secondary Attendant from being updated in the mobile app.
  • The controller software now supports setting an user-set low salt level target. Requires Mobile App version 1.4.23 or higher.
  • Addressed an issue where the controller would excessively create log entries for salt dosing if the method being used was UV.
  • The controller software will now display an alert if a Flow Meter device is offline and not communication with the Attendant.
  • Water Quality graphs by body of water (similar to the Mobile App) are now available on the Local UI.
  • Added support for Aquastar water pumps and Goldline-protocol salt chlorine generators to be connected together on the same BUS port on the Attendant.
  • Added additional modbus support for Nidec Neptune water pumps.

Version 2.1.14

Release date: May 6, 2025

  • Added support to configure and use Free and Total Chlorine probes. See our updated list of products here.
  • Added support for Aquagem, Moov, and Madimack water pumps.
  • Added the ability to configure Water Level Sensor devices to disable and stop water pumps when triggered. This ability to disable an interlocked pump can be found on the Advanced tab of the Water Level Sensor device in Installer Mode.
  • Salt Chlorinators/Cells are now supported on secondary Attendant controllers.
  • Added support for shared suction flows.
  • Water Level Sensors will now display if they are “in water” or “out of water” in the Device Status and Installer Mode screens.

Version 2.1.9

Release date: March 24, 2025

  • Added functionality that disables the heater/tstat control when a VSP water pump is not communicating with The Attendant or is reporting 0 RPM/GPM.
  • Improved the display time/responsiveness of the Water Quality graphs on the Local UI.
  • Addressed an issue that prevented custom colors (selected from the color wheel) from being displayed on Jandy Infinite WaterColors lights.

  • Addressed an issue with Freeze Protect that would prevent the user from making changes to controls of non-winterized bodies of water when another was winterized.

  • Added the ability for users to enable or disable pH and ORP alerts in the mobile app.
    • Users can set whether “low” and “high” alerts are generated, and how long of a delay should there be before issuing an alert.
    • Requires Mobile App version 1.4.16 or later.
  • Implemented changes to how you enter and exit Installer Mode.
    • Maintainers have the ability to set an “exit strategy” where you can help prevent accidental premature exiting from Installer Mode by limiting which users can return a controller to Normal Mode.
    • Requires Mobile App version 1.4.17 or later.
  • Addressed an issue with the Freeze Protect logic where it would appear that a Filter control would be on, when it really wasn’t.
  • Made some improvements to online connectivity reliability when a Controller is wired to Ethernet and not Wifi.

  • Added support for Hayward SmartPower® Transformer Light Drivers
  • Added support for Invertek P2 VFD pumps
  • Added support for Speck BADU Prime Neo pumps
  • Added the ability to winterize individual HVAC devices (heaters, heat pumps, chillers, solar heaters)
  • Added the ability to set the Freeze Protect cycle interval in Installer Mode. This allows you to change how long The Attendant will circulate water on a single flow before selecting the next flow. The default time is 20 minutes per flow.
  • Addressed a problem when exiting Freeze Protect mode while in Away Mode.
  • Improved reading and display of the RPM from ABB580 VFD’s

  • Addressed an issue where users were not able to edit chemistry dosing tables using the Local GUI.
  • Addressed an issue that allowed users to create certain flows containing a cleaner device without a preceding booster pump.
  • Addressed an issue that could prevent chemical dosing history from being uploaded to the cloud.
  • Added initial ground work to the Controller software to better inform users on current local weather conditions and provide clear guidance on how to troubleshoot Freeze Protect.  A mobile app update is required to complete and will be released soon.
  • Addressed a bug where certain devices would appear as “Winterized” (with a snowflake icon) if it was not part of a flow.
  • Addressed an issue where the RPM of a generic single- or multi-speed pump would not be shown in the mobile app.
  • Updated the controller logic to prevent displaying a “has not been filtered recently” alert from appearing prematurely. 
  • Added additional functionality to prevent configuration files from becoming corrupt or unreadable from disk.
  • This version has additional functionality to support Jandy heater control and communication.
  • Additional under-the-hood updates to support The Attendant Mini and provide Attendant Module support
  • And several other bug fixes and improvements.

  • Addressed an issue where the power port setting for water level sensors was not always being respected on certain Attendant models.

Version 2.1.2

Release date: December 16, 2024

  • Implemented HVAC (Heater) Cooldown functionality.  This value, when set for a Heater or other HVAC device, allows the water pumps to run for extended periods of time to allow the plumbing to cool down after turning it off. 
  • Addresses an issue where salt cell chlorinators were not being marked as “Winterized” when closing a body of water for the season. 
  • Addressed an issue preventing Jandy Infinite WaterColors lights from having their zone IDs set.
  • Fixed an issue where the controller would not properly close both actuators associated with Chillers using both an intake and output actuator.
  • Made several improvements to how The Attendant polls and reads water level sensors that are wired to thermistor ports.  Duty cycle times and power consumption are much improved.
  • Additional under-the-hood updates to support The Attendant Mini and provide Attendant Module support.

Version 2.0.49

Release date: December 13, 2024

  • Addressed a memory issue that could cause software instability on systems with certain device configurations.

  • Addressed an issue where some water pumps might not turn off while actuators were being moved, and the setting “Turn off pumps while actuators are moving” was set.
