Ports to connect to on The Attendant: Bus 1 – 4

In order to connect a Pentair IntelliFlo variable speed or variable flow pump to The Attendant you will need to connect the DT+ and DT- lines coming from the pump to the D+ and D- connectors on The Attendant.  These are typically the yellow wire for DT+ and the green wire for DT- and connect to terminal #2 and #3 respectively on the pump.

NOTE
You may need to first disable control at the keypad device on the pump.  If you wish to do so please refer to the manual supplied with the pump.

Disable Priming

Before connecting a pump to an automation system like The Attendant, it is recommended to disable any priming feature that many models have turned on by default.

This is because the priming feature on the pump cannot be remotely disabled by The Attendant. It must be disabled on the pump itself. If priming is enabled on start up, the pump responds to its internal settings before responding to The Attendant’s commands, and will run at it’s own priming speed and settings. This can end up being confusing to you because the Poolside mobile app may show the pump operating at a different speed than what you want. This will continue for as long as set on the pump, which is generally 5-10 minutes depending on model.

If priming is desired, The Attendant supports pump priming time and speed when configuring the pump settings in Installer Mode.

To disable priming for these models:

  • Temporarily disconnect the RS-485 communication cable and press the Start/Stop button.
  • Open the lid to the control panel to disable priming on the pump. Press Menu, and use the Arrow buttons to
scroll and select “Priming”, then select “Disabled” (the factory default is set to “Enabled”). Press Back to exit the menu.
  • Once priming is disabled, reinstall the RS-485 communication cable.
  • Press Start/Stop to enable pump operation.
