Hayward Universal H-Series heaters are controlled using dry contact/fireman switch connections.
- Turn off the power to the heater. Failure to do so could damage the circuit board or cause blown fuses.
- Connect a 22AWG two-conductor cable to the POOL (Orange) and COM (White) terminals on the remote wire harness in the heater.
- Connect the other end of the cable to any open Heater port on The Attendant and take note of the connection port for programming.
- Turn the power back on to the heater.
- Set the heater to Pool mode (Bottom LED) by pressing the “Mode” key.
- Press the “+” key to increase the temperature to the max desired set point, usually 104 degrees.
- Switch the heater to Standby mode (Top LED) by pressing the “Mode” key.
- Press and hold the “-” key and the “Mode” key simultaneously for 3 seconds. The display should show “bO,” indicating that it has entered bypass operation (Remote control mode).
- Press the “Mode” button again until the heater is in Pool mode (Bottom LED). The heater should now be fully controlled by The Attendant.
