Hayward Universal H-Series Heaters

Ports to connect to on The Attendant:
HEATERS: H1- H5 on The Attendant or H1 – H2 on The Attendant Mini

These devices should only be powered directly from the power center or breaker panel. Do not run electricity through a relay as The Attendant will control the device to turn on/off by using the communication cable.

Hayward Universal H-Series heaters are controlled using dry contact/fireman switch connections.

  1. Turn off the power to the heater. Failure to do so could damage the circuit board or cause blown fuses.
  2. Connect a 22AWG two-conductor cable to the POOL (Orange) and COM (White) terminals on the remote wire harness in the heater.
  3. Connect the other end of the cable to any open Heater port on The Attendant and take note of the connection port for programming.
  4. Turn the power back on to the heater.
  5. Set the heater to Pool mode (Bottom LED) by pressing the “Mode” key.
  6. Press the “+” key to increase the temperature to the max desired set point, usually 104 degrees.
  7. Switch the heater to Standby mode (Top LED) by pressing the “Mode” key.
  8. Press and hold the “-” key and the “Mode” key simultaneously for 3 seconds. The display should show “bO,” indicating that it has entered bypass operation (Remote control mode).
  9. Press the “Mode” button again until the heater is in Pool mode (Bottom LED). The heater should now be fully controlled by The Attendant.
